BOH Teas have a distinctive flavour. Our teas have a robustness that brings with it an enchanting aroma and a deep red or golden hue (depending on the grade of tea). It can be drank plain or with milk and sugar as the robustness and freshness of our teas bring out wonderful flavours. Malaysia’s favourite drink the Teh Tarik (pulled tea) is ideally made using BOH teas. This distinctive BOH taste is unique due to a few reasons:
Our Teas Are Grown in Cameron Highlands
Cameron Highlands is one of the most fertile agricultural grounds in Malaysia. As it is more than 5,000 ft above sea level, with a cool climate and ample rainfall, is possesses all the right attributes for prime cropland. Some of the best teas in the world are planted at high altitudes and Cameron Highlands has all the right characteristics to grow tea. The fertile soil and the ideal growing environment lends to the quality of the teas we produce and the final result is the tea with a robust flavour.
BOH is a vertically integrated company
A vertically integrated company is a company which has full control of its operations. BOH is one of the few tea companies that grows our own teas and we have full control over the tea’s processing, packing and marketing since we were founded in 1929. As every process is done by BOH with no change of hands to external parties, the teas are treated with the outmost care and in ideal environments to maintain its freshness. By being a vertically integrated company, BOH is able to maintain our quality and standards throughout manufacturing process.
Fresh Teas are Fast Tracked to The Market
Because BOH has our own plantations and packing factory, we are able to deliver fresh batches of teas for packing which can be fast tracked to the market. Typically, once BOH teas have gone through the manufacturing process, it will be in the market within 3 months. This helps to preserve our teas’ freshness and maintain its distinctive taste, colour and aroma.
Packing Material
The choice of material BOH uses to pack our teas is also crucial to maintain the freshness of our teas. Poor packing exposes the tea to air which will cause oxidation, resulting in a flat, characterless cup of tea. BOH has worked extensively to design packaging material that protects the quality of our teas. Besides giving our utmost attention to our packaging’s protection we are also working towards sustainable packaging.

We have perfected the art of tea making over our 90-year history. Since our first plantation in Cameron Highlands in 1929, we have refined our tea making process to bring out the best attributes of our teas. It has been a long journey but we are glad to have been able to make teas which have become a staple in Malaysian culture.
