Adjusting Our Lifestyle At Home

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced most of us to make changes to our lifestyle. With many of us now stuck at home in accordance to our respective countries’ lockdown period, it can be challenging for many of us to adjust.

However, with a little bit of lifestyle tweaking and some effort, staying at home can still be fruitful while also spending quality time with yourself and family. Here are some things to help you get started.

1. Staying Productive While Working From Home

Thankfully, with technology working from home is a much less arduous. Video conferencing programs such as Google Meet makes it easy to stay connected to our colleagues and stay up-to-date on day-to day-operations. Plus, a majority of us are using laptops or desktops so working from home can be done quite effectively.

However, being at home, where you usually come back from work to kick off your shoes and relax, can be quite a difficult environment to maintain our productivity. Your admin here will be the first to admit that there have been a few moments (just one or two!) of lapses in productivity. It is important that we separate work time from play time and having the right environment and mindset is key to keeping up or productivity. If you have had your own lapses, you can have a read at these articles by Think with Google and Time.com to find out how you can stay productive at home.

2. Keeping An Eye On Your Children

The shift from working to stay-at-home parent can be quite an eye opener. Seeing your children from the moment you wake up till you tuck them into bed (for the younger ones anyway) can be one of the more rewarding moments of this stay-at-home period and the quality time you spend with them is priceless.

However, we should also take into account how children are feeling during this COVID-19 outbreak. According to UNICEF, children deal with their emotions in different ways as compared to adults. Especially with school closures as well as lack of interaction with their friends and school mates, anxiety, stress and uncertainty can creep in. Parents need to keep an eye their children while making them feel loved and supported during this time. You can check out the article by unicef.org which shares how parents can support their children during the COVID-19 outbreak.

3. A Time For Self-Enrichment

With so much uncertainty in our lives right now, it is important for us to take care of our physical and mental health. We should see these days as opportunities to improve ourselves. There are so many things we can do at home!

Admin’s personal favourite is playing the Final Fantasy VII video game reading a good book while sipping on a cup of tea. I am sure you have activities you have been wanting to do but haven’t had the time to do it. Well, now it is the perfect time! Clean your home, pick up a new hobby or improve your cooking skills.
